Halloween is about two months away, have you started thinking about it?
Most years Halloween creeps up on me and bites me in the bottom. Meaning, I may have the kids costumes planned out and purchased and probably some or most of the candy in a bowl and ready for the trick or treaters… BUT I always fall short when it comes to Halloween decorations.
Not this year! Party City to the rescue!
Kaytlin and I focused on the outdoor decorations when we first started shopping the site.
I wish I had more time to review these so I could decorate the house (and show you pictures)… but here are my initial thoughts.
For the front of the house we decided to go more cutsie than scary because of Emma and Ethan. We found this Halloween Outdoor Decorating Kit 13 pc kit and decided it was perfect. It comes with two window scenes, a door panel, a Happy Halloween banner and the spider/ghost/pumpkin 30 foot bunting and 8 ghosts. The actual pieces look just like the picture and are adorable. I can’t wait to hang the ghosts from our tree in the front lawn!
We generally put lights up at Christmas and I’ve always envied our neighbor’s Halloween lights, so we decided we needed a few for the overhang of our porch. We found these Dangling Spider Lights that are not too scary and cheerful enough to add a splash of color to the decorations. I love how the spiders are removable from the strand. When the lights burn out we can either replace the light bulb or the strand entirely.
I already had the kids costumes purchased (actually bought them in the Party City store on clearance!) but Emma had her eyes on a Wizard of Oz Light-Up Musical Glinda Wand to complete her costume. I was a little surprised when it came because the stock photo shows it all clear, but Emma was over the moon with it so the color wasn’t an issue (and her dress is pink, too). My only wish with the wand would be that instead of a digitized version of “Over the Rainbow” maybe they could have used just a “magic wand” noise? Daddy will take care of the volume issue with some scotch tape (digitized music annoys us and it’s a tad loud) and we will all be happy 
.
Last but not least, you can’t forget the Halloween candy and goodie bag toys! We decided on a “grab bag” type of candy… something for everyone. We also chose two packages of Halloween Party Favor Super Mega Mix 100 ct because we love giving goodies and toys instead of handfuls of sugar to the children.
We went ahead and let Emma and Ethan choose a toy from the party favor bags and (you guessed it) they chose the noisy one. Can you see the smiles behind the fake lips? They had a blast with these noise makers.
So now I am ready and stocked up for Halloween.

I really love all of the Day of the Dead supplies from Party City! I find the Mexican tradition of celebrating their dead so fascinating. If I had to choose one DOTD supply it would be the 4ct Day of the Dead masks. My 5 year old is a huge star wars fan, and i would love to be able to give him the perfect costume of his choice from the star wars line. i believe that would make him the happiest little boy. as a single mom with recently being diagnosed with ms makes it hard finacially a little harder to give him what he wants. but the line of costumes party city has for star wars is AMAZING!!

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
