the Help on Blu-ray & DVD December 6, 2011
The Help, the inspirational summer hit film people can’t stop talking about, arrives in homes just in time for the holidays, delivering this powerful story on Blu-ray™ Combo Pack, DVD, Digital Download and On-Demand, December 6, 2011.
The #1 New York Times bestseller by Kathryn Stockett comes to vivid life through the compelling performances of a phenomenal ensemble cast including Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Bryce Dallas Howard. The Help is a courageous and empowering story about very different and extraordinary women in the 1960s South who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this movie, but I knew I love Emma Stone so I was eager to give it a whirl. I was entranced with the storyline from the beginning. I know that similar scenes portrayed in the movie probably happened back in the 60’s and it frustrated me beyond belief to hear how Hilly treated Minny. I loved how Skeeter was beyond her years in her thinking when it came to racial relations. She risked a lot to share their story with the public. I was ecstatic for Minny in the pie scene and laughed hysterically when the movie showed Hilly reading the story in the published book. There wasn’t a single moment of boredom during this movie and I would give everyone on my Christmas list a copy if I could!
