Sick After Hours | MinuteClinic To The Rescue
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for CVS MinuteClinic. I received promotional items as a thank you for participating
My kids are rarely sick, but when it happens it is never during normal office hours. They are the type that start to come down with something at 4:55 pm on a Friday night. Of course, I am the wait and see kind of mom because 99% of the time they don’t really need a doctor, just some rest. On the rare 1% of the time they do need a doctor I am stuck with few options on the weekend or after hours.
Fortunately we found the MinuteClinic at our local CVS/pharmacy store. MinuteClinic is a walk-in, 7 day a week with evening hours kind of place available now in 28 states and DC.
The best part? No appointments needed! It’s a convenient and affordable option, especially during the cold/flu season when your families doctor’s office is booked solid and a timely appointment is not available.
Yes, I mentioned affordable. Have you seen the rates from an ER visit or even urgent care?! MinuteClinic even worked with our insurance company so I barely paid anything out of pocket. Because MinuteClinic is in communication with our regular physicians I know that our health records will reflect what our visit was about and what tests and/or prescriptions were given to us.
We have visited our local MinuteClinic for sports physicals, flu shots and most recently for a suspected strep throat screening (which came back negative… phew!). Typically the wait is only a couple of patients before it’s our turn and on the rare occasion the line is longer we browse the store for a few minutes and check back to see where our name is in line. We have had nothing but good experiences with the staff and we never felt rushed or not listened to.
MinuteClinic and CVS are a great one-stop shop for cough-cold and flu needs. Not sure if you have a cold or the flu? Check out this sheet. While visiting the MinuteClinic to vaccinate, diagnose, treat and prescribe for cough-cold and flu, you can equip your house with wintertime cough-cold essentials all in one stop.

Didnt know CVS offered this. Will be keeping it in mind.
That is really good to know, as you we Always seem to get sick on the weekends, without fail. I also like that while reading I can do some quick shopping and get two things done at once. Thanks for letting me know.
Thats kind of nifty they have that in some stores! And isnt it the truth- everyone gets sick on off hours and you end up spending a fortune!
CVS has met a real need with these MinuteClinics. I think they will be even more popular with the upcoming health care changes, because many people are going to have high deductibles, they’d just as soon go somewhere affordable and fast, and forget worrying about using up the deductible.
i always forget about the Minute Clinic! thanks for the reminder!
What a nice clinic to have after hours, and this saves a lot of money going to a clinic after hours because the ER is so expensive. I bet the service is fast!
