Toy Story Zing Ems Rocket Rumble Playset & Figure Assortment

Toy Story has been a hands down favorite movie in our house for all four of my children. We never grow tired of watching any of the versions, so when we were offered a chance to review a Toy Story Zing Ems Ethan wouldn’t let me say no.

What are Zing ‘Ems you ask?

Zing ‘Ems are an action-packed, completely new way to play with everyone’s favorite Toy Story characters, and the Rocket Rumble playset is one of Buzz Lightyear’s most action-filled adventures yet. The galaxy’s greatest Space Ranger needs your help to take on Zurg (figure sold separately). Use the attack launcher to send Buzz zinging and zooming around the playset, crashing through the deadly Zurgbot and tumbling through the treacherous asteroid field. Succeed, and it’s time to take on Zurg! Will you break through the obstacles and save the day? Or will you be defeated by the asteroid field and Zurgbot? Includes play set and 1 exclusive Buzz Lightyear Zing’ems figure. Collect all your favorite Zing’ems figures, each sold separately.

Our extra figure pack included Woody & RC. They sort of remind me of Weebles by their looks, but their base is made of rollers so when they are propelled by the plunger they move quickly. So with 3 characters Ethan should be able to make up his own storyline, right?

Ethan didn’t even give me a chance to explain the toy to him. He instinctively knew that if he pulled on the red knob, something cool would happen… which it did! I like that this is a rather simple toy that creates the necessity of the children using their own imaginations. Ethan can send one character on their way, sometimes ending on the landing, other times making a full circle… meanwhile a 2nd character can be launched to chase the 1st or on their own adventure. Ethan is a happy guy with simple toys as he likes to make his own stories up and often uses toys in more ways that directed on the box. I have even caught Ethan playing with the characters on their own, just like he does with Hot Wheels. It’s a small, compact, simple concept that, for the right child, creates tons of playtime!
