Saturday was an amazing experience I will never forget. We started our day with the incredible experience of interviewing Cobie Smulders (S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) on the 43rd floor of the Trump Soho Hotel (more on that later, though).
Soon after our interviews were finished we headed downstairs just in time to see Robert Downey Jr. come downstairs and head out to the mob of Paparazzi (including a topless one!). A few lucky girls in our group had the distinct pleasure of riding the elevator all the way down with Robert and they gushed about how sweet and funny he is in person.
We arrived at the The Tribeca screening at the Borough of Manhattan Community College and were whisked to the red carpet. I could feel the excitement from the crowd as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their favorite actors.
We were allowed to watch as the stars arrived for their photo shoot and interviews on the red carpet. I was giddy when Cobie Smulders looked up from her interview and caught my eye. She mouthed “Hi” and gave me a wave… I can’t go on enough about how incredibly sweet and down to earth she is, but I digress.
We took our seats and patiently waited for the film to begin. There was a quick intro on the screen and then an announcer came out to welcome us, welcome and honor the local heroes (fire, police, military and 911 first responders) and then the introduction of the stars of the film. You can see the stars below clapping for the local heroes being honored (standing in the front rows).
I will have my review of the film later this week, but I just have to say the overall experience of whole Tribeca of it all was an amazing whirlwind of events. It wasn’t nearly the flashy Hollywood red carpet event I’ve watched on television before but I kind of enjoyed the intimacy of this one and how we were allowed to watch (fairly close I might add) as the stars of the film walked the red carpet.
The true spirit of the night was dedicated to the real heroes though.
Robert Downey Jr. : Iron Man
Chris Hemsworth : Thor
Tom Hiddleston : Loki
Mark Ruffalo : The Hulk
Clark Gregg : S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson
Cobie Smulders : S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill
The standing ovation this group of men and women received at the screening brought chills and goosebumps to many. It seemed that the crowd couldn’t get to their feet quick enough… and I agree. Even the “mommy bloggers” wanted to show their support. This group of men kindly agreed to take a photo with our group.
Although we didn’t get to walk the red carpet, you know I couldn’t resist stopping for a red carpet photo:
Do you remember the little Captain America from the viral YouTube video where his Dad surprised him for his birthday party dressed as Captain America (military Dad deployed and just got home)?
He was there with his Mom and Dad!
Even Cobie Smulders stopped to take a photo with him.
We were fortunate to catch them on the red carpet on the way out. This little boy was beyond incredibly cute and won us over in 2 seconds. He was a bit shy at first with 25 Mommy Bloggers wanting him to pose with his Dad, but he soon warmed up to us and even let out a “Captain America!” shout that got all of us clapping, cheering and “ahhhh!”ing.
If you haven’t seen the video… it’s a must see!

It was so great being there!!!
I’m really ready to go see this movie. It looks pretty awesome. I would LOVE to have been at that film festival!
I hadn’t seen that video… Thanks for making me cry! Glad you had a great weekend, sounds like it was tons of fun.
This was a great event, and an honor to be invited! I loved your dress and shawl! You looked beautiful!
I was bummed we didn’t get to walk the carpet but was glad I didn’t have to worry about tripping! My shoes were hurting my feet quite a bit by the time we arrived. I don’t know how stars look so good and comfy all the time!
wow, super awesome that they honored local heros. love when celebs give back. its what they should do
