On ear headphones seem to be all the rage this year. Both of my older children have dropped no so subtle hints that they’d love a pair from Santa. Fortunately we were sent a pair of Logitech UE headphones to put through the paces.

What are on ear headphones? On-ear headphones rest on the outer part of your ears. Compact and lightweight, they’re a great choice if you plan to use them while on the go. Their open design enables them to stay cool, even after hours of wear. And they allow you to hear some natural sound from your surroundings, which is useful when you wear them in public.

I was impressed by the quality of the headphones before I even put them on. They were sturdy, adjusted smoothly, the cord wasn’t stiff but coated with a more flexible rubbery material and the padding on the ears seemed more than adequate.

The padding is made of a plush, memory foam cushion that has a breathable, soft-as-leather surface and totes a compact, on-ear design. The Logitech UE 4000s are made to feel great and go where you go because you’ve got the perfect playlist for every place and every occasion. And since they’re built with top-quality materials, these will be your favorite headphones for a long time to come.

These headphones include a mic and on-cord controls so you can use these with your phone as well as your music player. You can answer calls with just one touch, change tracks and adjust volume—all without touching your device. And since sometimes the music is too good to keep to yourself, they’ve included a shareable splitter among the accessories that come with the Logitech UE 4000s.

I do not have experience with any type of headphones except the cheap in ear ones that come with devices or you pick up at the local mart for around $10. I eagerly plugged these into my Macbook, went directly to YouTube and picked a video to watch/listen to. I was blown away by the exceptional sound that came out of these! I wasn’t just listening to the music, I could feel every layer, every nuance, every detail. The sound was undiluted, rich, clear and perfectly tuned. I almost didn’t take them off… but alas I heard the approaching footsteps of the gift recipient and had to hide them. I won’t admit to it, but I “may” have taken them out several more times to listen to music while everyone was at school.

    I use the little ear buds all the time, only because they are cheap. They don’t last, so I should think about getting a great pair of headphones like these. These look comfortable, and they would drown out the sci fi channel my husband watches all the time 🙂 Love them!
