The Gift of Fitness for Father’s Day
Over the past couple of years my husband has found that he has a passion for running. He is finally at the point in his recovery from plantar fasciitis that he is getting back out and hitting the dirt (he’s a trail runner). During his time off he had been devouring all the running magazines he could get his hands on. One article in particular was mentioning target heart rates for optimum fitness (and calorie burn) and it got him intrigued.
Fortunately I had the Sportline Cardio 660 Monitor to give him for his early Father’s Day gift.
Features:
- Quick and easy to set up, the Cardio 660 heart rate monitor lets you customize the user profile for accuracy
- Press the dedicated heart rate button to display your heart rate at any time during your workout; watch displays average heart rate and percent of your maximum heart rate
- Watch calculates calories burned and fat burned during your workout
- Coded transmission between the watch and the included chest strap eliminates interference from other heart rate monitors
- Time your workouts with the countdown timer or the 50-lap stopwatch
- Sportline Cardio™ 660 heart rate monitor has standard watch features that include time, date and alarm
My husband has been using this for several weeks now. He’s mentioned that it is simple to program and intuitive to use. He likes that once you set your target heart rate zone the monitor will beep when you enter it and then beep again if you leave it. This way he doesn’t need to keep looking at the watch.
He mentioned that he wears the chest strap fairly snug because if he runs with it a bit loose the reception is spotty. Although it’s snug, once he is moving he doesn’t feel it at all. The only thing he wished this monitor would do that it doesn’t would be to record your maximum or average heart rate during a workout. Overall, though, it is a great monitor for at the moment monitoring whether you run, spin, bike, cross train or perform any other cardio-centric activity.
The Cardio 660 is available for $69.95 at REI.com.
