Our family has been “behind the time” for ages (it seems). Up until Christmas, we were still functioning with “tube” televisions. My son (he’s 14) had actually begun begging us to purchase a flat screen TV for his gaming because the clarity he was experiencing at his friends house. My husband and I had discussed it and found it hard to spend that kind of money when our televisions were still functioning fine.

Last November I decided to take the plunge. I stood in line for over 8 hours at a local store hoping for a great deal on a Plasma TV. I was one of the two lucky ones to snag this bargain (yes, the only had two) and we excitedly hung our new investment and turned it on.

The picture… blew us away.

The sound… eh?

To be honest, the sound on our old television was probably better. I was disappointed and instantly knew I had to fix this situation and started Googling sound bars. I noticed several options while in the store but really had no clue just how lacking the sound on a Plasma TV could be.

I found the LG LSB306 140 Watt 2 Channel Speaker Sound Bar at BuyDig.com. LG is a name I trust and I was loving the discounted price of $149.00. There were only a handful of reviews so I put my trust in the brand and ordered the bar.

The bar arrived quickly and safely. After a quick unpacking I found that installation was going to be a snap. Simply plug in the electrical cord and attach the other double ended cord to the bar and the television and I was ready to go. The unit does comes with a wall mounting bar as well as the template to easily hang it, but our setup allowed us to set the bar below the TV.

I settled everything in and turned it on.

At first I couldn’t tell that the bar was functioning. The light indicated it was on, but we couldn’t hear a difference. My husband decided to turn the television down and then we heard it. It had a nice sound… definitely more depth to it than the sound coming from the television. I had envisioned a little more bass to it, but it was a definite improvement from the television sound. After giving it a run for the money and turning it up rather loud I decided to play with the features instead.

The LG Sound Bar is Bluetooth enabled. From the bar side of things it took a few pushes of a button and it was ready. I then enabled Bluetooth on my phone and connected the two. It was so much fun playing the music from my phone on the sound bar! The family was dancing around and having a good time… and then my phone rang. I initially panicked because I thought I was going to have to figure out how to stop the music, but the bar turned it off automatically for me! Once I hung up the phone, the music picked up where it left off. I could control changing the song and the volume from across the room on my phone. We had way too much fun with this feature to be honest Smile.
