BeForever is American Girl’s line of historical dolls, books, and related accessories that connects girls ages 8 and up with inspiring characters and timeless stories from America’s past. First introduced in 1986 but now with a fresh new look, BeForever gives girls today the opportunity to explore the past, find their place in the present, and think about the possibilities the future can bring. From a daring Nez Perce girl who does her best to be a friend to the earth in 1764 to an optimistic girl who stands up for what’s right in the mid-1970s, the adventurous BeForever characters help girls see the common threads—the shared interests, challenges, and dreams—that tie girls from all times together. The BeForever line will debut with eight characters; all-new, historically accurate outfits and accessories for dolls; new and refreshed fiction books; and an original line of historically inspired clothing for girls.

Samantha’s Back!

To celebrate the launch of BeForever, American Girl is welcoming back popular favorite Samantha Parkington to its lineup of historical characters. Samantha was one of the company’s original characters introduced in 1986, and her compelling story of compassion and friendship has inspired millions of girls. Archived in 2008, Samantha will be reintroduced with new products, including an ice cream parlor, a bike, a bedroom set, and several new outfits and accessories.

She has sparkling brown eyes that open and close and long, glossy brown curls. She comes in an authentic 1904 outfit of:

• A petal-pink dress with a layer of sheer dotted mesh on top, a lace hem and collar, short puff sleeves, and a burgundy velvet sash
• White tights
• White bloomers
• Black Mary Jane shoes
• A burgundy ribbon for her hair

The 18″ Samantha doll has a huggable cloth body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl. Included with Samantha is the paperback book Manners and Mischief, the first novel-length volume of Samantha’s classic series.

I am always in awe when we receive a new American Girl doll. The details that go into making them unique and lifelike are amazing.

Samantha’s rosey cheeks, soft pink lips, tiny little teeth and beautiful brown eyes are all complimented with her long, curly flowing mane.

New “Journey” Books

I love that my Emma will be reading about a girl that is kind, generous, and always ready to make a new friend in the new “Journey” books.

Journey books are narrated by a girl from today who travels back in time to meet a BeForever character and share experiences with her. These books allow the reader to become part of the story itself by choosing what happens at key points. No more hunting down six books. Journey books have condensed the six-book series into a two novel-length volumes.
