Back to School With Kohl’s | Designing a Study Space

My oldest recently headed off to college, leaving an empty room behind. I will admit that it took me several weeks to recover before I could even walk past her room without sobbing. But as I soon realized that she wasn’t gone for good, I also began to realize that our family needed the extra space she left.
I received an email from Kohl’s regarding back to school. I instantly thought, “Oh, clothes.”. As I sifted through the pages I ran across study station ideas, which is exactly what I was thinking of doing with the space. I knew that a comfortable office chair was vital to good study habits, but I was also drawn to the rolling carts to store the loose clutter I knew came with having a study area. I also noticed the hex board set on the wall and thought that they might be a valuable tool to help remind me of upcoming deadlines, etc.
Our first item to assemble was the Student Lounge® mesh desk chair. As you can see it arrived in several pieces, but assembly was pretty straight forward and the task was done quickly.
The final product didn’t disappoint. I was actually a little skeptical that Kohl’s would carry decent office chairs, but I will admit that I was wrong! My kids can comfortably sit and focus at the correct height for each of them, have decent back support and arm rests that give support while using the mouse.
The rolling cart also came in several pieces for easy shipment. Kaytlin mentioned (yep, I let her do the dirty work 😉 )that it was a simple assembly and that the directions were straight forward.
Here you have the final product… the Student Lounge® 4- drawer storage unit. I was very pleased with this item and instantly thought of what a great item it would be for the bathroom as well. The sturdy sided cloth drawers slide in and out easily, are a decent depth and I think it’s cute! I decided to keep it in the study area and have since taken over it with my review items. I told you my study areas get cluttered without drawers!
Our Student Lounge® hex boards will soon have a home on the wall next to the computer area. We have been flip flopping the room back and forth and rearranging trying to make the best use of our space. I need to keep a bed in the room for when Kaytlin comes home to visit, but we are slowly making it our own and it’s becoming more functional as time moves on!
The chair, rolling cart and dry erase/bulletin board set are great starts to our study room/office. It’s the quietest room in the house, away from the crowd (in the basement) and is free of distractions (the television has no reception lol). Now I just need to remember to remove Netflix from the computer so the kids (and myself) don’t get distracted by that!
Kohl’s is more than just clothes, shoes and home goods. I’ve found that their Student Lounge® is a fabulous line to incorporate into your home office/study area or to help set up your college student for success. They combine comfort, design, functionality and affordable prices making it a brand I will turn to in the future!

Really cute space! I never thought of Kohl’s for Office supplies before!
What a great work station! I always forget that Kohl’s has more than clothes!
I love the new study space! I wish we had a space like that for the kids! My oldest daughter heads off to college next summer but we’ll still have 4 more kids to split between the 2 bedrooms….so the kids will continue to use the kitchen table, the couch, and mine and my husband’s computers to do their work. 🙂
I need a new chair and this is a nice chair that you got! I also like the rolling cart. I need to get one of these because you can roll it out of the way, and when I need it, I can roll it to my desk. Great products from Kohl’s.
