The Pantech Pursuit, for the AT&T network, is a great little messaging phone with touch screen.

The Pantech Pursuit impressed me right out of the box. The aesthetics and size were perfect for our family’s needs. My teens are text messagers, and they like to text fast. Having a slider and a QWERTY keyboard is a must for them.
One of the most important features (to me) on a phone is the camera. I don’t always have my regular digital camera on me and sometimes the kids are cute at the most inopportune times. I always have my phone in my pocket, so it serves as my back up camera. This phone totes a 2.0 MP camera that takes decent photos for online sharing. I was impressed that it also has a video camera, as most “messaging” phones do not.
The touch screen was very responsive and the screens were intuitive to manipulate. Some of the features under the tools tab include recent calls, drawing commander, camera, video camera, media player, alarm clock, calendar, calendar, notepad, sketch pad, voice memo, world time, calculator, tip calculator, converter, stop watch and timer. Some of these are standard features, but the calendar is more of a day planner/organizer to help you stay on top of your day. This would be great for college students (or even high schoolers) to keep track of their assignments due, sports activities etc. The sketch pad uses the touch screen to allow the user to “draw” and save and the notepad is great for a quick occasional “note to self”.
I was unable to connect to the network so I cannot give my opinion on texting, web browsing, email and the like. That being said, this phone features bluetooth, AT&T Navigator, YPmobile, Mobile Web, Mobile Email, AT&T Social Net, AppCenter, IM, Apps, AT&T Music, Shop GPS, Where, AT&T FamilyMap, Mobile Video, Facebook and MySpace. All of these features would make my teenagers happy. I do think that because of the small size of this screen (2.8 inches) that navigating websites using the touch screen might be a little tedious, but that is just an assumption.
If your teen/grad is into messaging with the occasional web browsing, IM, Facebook etc (like mine), they would probably love this phone.
