WOW! Summer arrived and BAM! my life went into a whirlwind. I honestly thought I was going to have a long and boring summer.
To my surprise I had two days to get myself and my hubby ready for a 7 night Alaskan cruise. Needless to say my mind went into a tail spin.
I sadly forgot to weigh in that Friday I had so much to do!
We flew out Saturday morning and spent the day resting up in Seattle and sight seeing. Sunday morning we headed for our home for the next 7 nights, the Norwegian Pearl.
Food wise I knew I was going to be faced with some challenges. With 7 weeks under my belt I felt like I understood what a decent portion size was and how to portion my meals as far as protein, carbs and vegetables went.
Faced with foods like the ones above I used my new knowledge and tried to always stop when I started feeling full and to always leave food behind. I figured if I was hungry again soon, there were food options available 24/7 so I would go hungry for very long.
When it came to the desserts, I picked up as many as I wanted to try but only allowed myself 1-2 bites of each. Generally there were only 2 at a time I wanted to try, so I felt great about walking out with only 2 bites of dessert in me!
We also tried to be as active as possible. Pool time wasn’t an option because Alaska is still on the chilly side, but we took the stairs as often as possible (I refused his offer to walk up 6 flights though, sorry). We also attended Norwegian’s Night Out which was a “club scene” dance party. My husband isn’t a dancer and we have never been out dancing. But… he danced with me! Phew! You can really work up a sweat on the dance floor, too!
Our port days were fairly active as well. My feet were killing me by the days end, but my eyes and ears took in everything and I have so many great memories to share!
So, I weighed in this morning worried about the results…. BUT THEY WERE GOOD!

I felt a little defeated because I wanted to have my victory 20 pounds loss day, but you can bet I am going to be vigilant this week. I can taste it!
Kaytlin stepped into my shoes while I was away, which I know is not an easy task. I appreciated her taking on the extra responsibility of the house, the kids, and their schedules especially with just a few days notice. She has never had to feed other people and stay on a strict Nutrisystem plan before and it was a little bit of a challenge for her. She did well though and after stepping back into her “real” life she found that a co-worker had decided to start Nutrisystem as well and they are now supporting each other daily and she feels more accountable.
This lead to some great success this week for her!
Kaytlin’s loss:
week 1 | – 2.8 pounds | – 2.8 |
week 2 | – 1 | – 3.8 total |
week 3 | – 2 | – 5.8 total |

It has been a rough ride that is now finally smoothing out for both of us as we finally get into the swing of the program and our new lifestyles. We hope that the next 3 weeks brings big numbers for both of us!
WOW great inspiration! Congrats on your journey with Nutrisystem! The food looks great!
I am totally impressed. You went on a cruise and did not gain 5 pounds like I did. Alaska is so beautiful. I’m guessing that your picture was taken at the glacier not far from Juneau.
Sounds like a great time was had on the cruise even though you had to watch your food intake of all the good food that was available. You are doing a great job on your weight loss journey!
good for you!!! keep it up, you’re doing great!
