Pop Secret | 3 Steps For The Perfect Movie Night | Find Your Critic Tool

Last week I shared about our Family Movie Night routine. All six of us adore watching movies… but prefer not to waste our time on dud movies. There have been several instances my husband has brought a movie home from the local library (love checking out DVDs for free!) without knowing anything about it only to find after only watching 5 minutes of it that it’s a stinker.

My husband found the website Rotten Tomatoes a couple of years back actually. Before we rent or check out movies we visit the site, do a quick search for the movie, read a synopsis of the storyline and easily view on the tomato meter what percentage of critics liked the movie and what percentage of movie viewers liked it. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you can view the actors list as well as several comments/reviews.

How to Use the Tool:
1. Rate a series of 12 movies using the Find Your Critic tool.
2. Find your critic will compare your ratings with those of other Rotten Tomatoes critics.
3. Movies you have reviews in the past and in the future will continue to pinpoint your top critics.
4. Follow your critic’s reviews to see which movies you will most likely enjoy.

(Step2) Bring out the sleeping bags, jammies, slippers and pillows. My kids love to go all out and pretend they are camping on the living room floor while watching movies. If they get a little lonely, the pillows and sleeping bags move easily to the couch next to us. It helps them relax (and get the wiggles out) and eventually be ready for bed once the movie is over.

(Step 3) Snacks are everything! We generally tightly regulate the consumption of sugary foods in our house. On movie night, we give a little and let the kids pick one candy item.  Sometimes they pick a movie sized box of goodies from the store (to make it feel more like the theater) and sometimes it’s just a goodie from the cupboard. One things is always mandatory on movie night, though. A big, warm, steamy bowl of freshly popped stove popcorn like Pop Secret. No added butter, just a little salt or seasoning and mmmmmmmm.
