Mega Bloks® Barbie® Build ‘n Style Pet Shop

Mega Bloks® new line of Mega Bloks® Barbie® caused quite a stir in our house. I must say my daughter was beyond excited to see that we got Mega Bloks® Barbie® Build’ n Style Pet Shop in the mail. She squealed with excitement when she recognized Barbie® on the box.

I wasn’t sure if she would be able to figure out the whole concept of building and playing with this set, it is my son who is into building and she is more into the destroying stage. To my surprise her imagination took over right away and she took ownership as she played. I had to build the pet shop for her since she is still too young yet and can’t do something like that on her own.

There are some parts you need to assemble, such as Mega Bloks® Barbie®, and there were lots of stickers that needed to be placed on some of the blocks and pieces.  I was a little worried about the all the small pieces getting lost. There are a lot of small pieces that come with the set such as little tiny flowers, hair brush, mirror, bows for the hair. It’s definitely a set that needs to be cleaned up immediately when she is done playing with it so pieces don’t scatter and get lost.

On the box it says not for children under 3 do to small parts. I would have say that for building it I would recommend the age of 5 or 6. McKenna is 2 and definitely too young for building or putting it back together when something comes apart, but she had lots of fun playing with all the little pets, pretending to brush them and blow-dry.

I would recommend this line of Mega Bloks® to any girl who is into building. There are lots of Boy building blocks out there but not a lot of “girl” colored or themed building blocks. If your 2 year old is still into putting things in their mouth I would suggest waiting until they are a little older. Mega Bloks® has come out with such a great idea with this line to focus on the little girls who like to build too!
