New Year …. New Changes
If you are a regular reader of OurKidsMom, you might have noticed that our normal activity level has dropped significantly over the past few weeks. I had intended it to just last through the holiday break so I could enjoy having my entire family home at the same time but it somehow ended up being almost an entire month of slow activity. You know something is up when there are only 3-6 giveaways going at once, right?
As far as the blog changes, you will probably not notice a huge difference. I have taken a small step back with my reviews as I want to savor these last few months of having just Ethan home alone with me. Next year I will have an empty house and I will be craving moments like the ones I often zone out of when focused on the blog. My reviewers Missy and Lindsay have stepped up and are taking on a little more work, I’ve picked up a DVD reviewer (you might know her already… Courtney from Joy of Momma Joyner), and I still have my occasional post from Amanda from Mommy of Two Little Monkeys. You can always find me on the OurKidsMom Facebook page as I haunt it several times a day. It is one of my goals to connect more with my readers on the blog as well as Facebook.
There have been some changes in my life here at home that will probably trickle to the blog as well. As you know, several of my family members including myself are vegetarians. Up until this point I thought I was doing a good job feeding my family healthy food to nourish their bodies. I had been concerned about some of the GMO talk that has been circling the internet so during my “time off” I did some digging. Our first video we watched is called Genetic Roulette (you can rent it from Amazon.com for $1.99 / 7 day rental). It explained in clear English (not a bunch of constant Scientific mumbo jumbo) exactly what is happening to our food supply… and it horrified me. Everything they presented totally made sense… kind of that “ooooohhhh, yeah!” ah-ha moment. I won’t go into detail in this post, but I’m hoping you will enjoy hearing about my discoveries, our families adventures in cleaning up our pantries and diets and my new “clean” recipes that will be coming soon. They are delicious and won’t break the bank. There will be no funky ingredients and if you don’t have or want to use organic ingredients they can be made either way.
With six mouths to feed I can’t afford expensive meals… right?
So there you have it. The long and the short of it.
Have you heard of GMOs? Do you want to hear more about them? How about clean eating… does that interest you? Tell me about it!
I have heard of GMO’s, and, yes, “clean eating” is extremely important to me. We are not vegetarian, but have dramatically reduced meat consumption over the past couple of years. I look forward to learning new information and ways you find to clean up the pantry.
I have noticed the activity level on the blog drop, but I can definitely understand wanting to spend time with your youngest child while he is still at home. I have heard about GMOs, but would like to learn more about them. I am also trying to be healthy and am looking forward to your “clean” recipes.
welcome! to your new helpers. i have never heard of gmo’s, but now youve got me interested
Good for you! I too wanted to spend time with my little guy as he was the last one and I didn’t want to loose the special time with him. The clean eating sounds very intriguing to me as well. Can’t wait to see the new recipes and ideas you have. Thanks for sharing.
That’s great to hear! I am very excited to see more and more people learn the truth about our food supply! We’ve been eating clean and GMO free for about 4.5 years since I got pregnant with my first. But now we’re going grain and sugar free to save our daughter’s teeth, following the Cure Tooth Decay diet. I’m documenting it on my blog and doing a lot of new recipes: http://www.eco-babyz.com/2012/12/crumbling-baby-teeth.html
great recipes so far
i don’t know much about gmo’s, but am looking inot it more.
