Celebrate International Bacon Day with Smithfield Bacon
Smithfield is famous for smoking and curing fine meats to perfection, giving our bacon a rich flavor that can only be attained by the natural smoking process. Available in a wide variety of flavors and packages including low sodium and less fat.
For more than two centuries, the colonial town of Smithfield, Virginia, founded in 1752, has been shipping the finest hams to satisfied customers around the world. Today, thanks to the vision of a Virginia family and its patriarch, Joseph Luter, that tradition not only continues but has grown into something of a legend.

Mmmm! Can you smell it? Yummy bacon made it’s way to my door this week. I got the chance to review Smithfield bacon for International Bacon Day (September 4, 2012) & it made my day! I’m not even kidding. I love bacon.
My family loves bacon. The kids fight over who gets the biggest piece, and if there’s only one left…well… I get it! Ha! We received some naturally hickory smoked Smithfield bacon Hometown Original in the regular size & the pouch pack. It came in a really awesome collapsible cooler with ice packs, coupons & a can cozy thing that my kids have been “sharing” (fighting over).
When I cooked the Smithfield bacon, it filled the house with yummy hickory smoked bacon smell. The dog & kids went crazy. 🙂 We couldn’t resist & had to taste it right away & we were not disappointed.
Smithfield bacon is deliciously flavored & made for some really amazing BLT’s for dinner. The pieces were just thick enough that they didn’t fall apart – even though we like them super crispy. Sometimes when I use not-so-awesome bacon, the pieces fall apart & we end up with bacon bits for our sandwiches instead of slices. These held up very well!
I highly recommend Smithfield bacon & I’m looking forward to trying some of their other bacon flavors & products as well.
