Melissa & Doug Speck Seahorse Sand Ice Cream Set
My kids love to play outside and especially enjoy spending time in the sand box. Ethan will zone out and spend up to an hour digging, plowing, sifting and tunneling his way around in the sand. When Melissa and Doug emailed and offered to let them review a sand ice cream set I had to say “Yes!”.
The Speck Seahorse Sand Ice Cream Set is a cute extension of the typical shovel and pail set the kids usually play with.
Enjoy “cool” fun in the sun with an ice-cream cone filled with your choice of sandy scoops! Seahorse-shaped molds make round or swirled “ice cream” to top with sprinkles from the shell-topped shaker. Everything stores in a convenient bucket with a lid that doubles as a sand mold!

Emma loves the sand box almost as much as Ethan. I jokingly call it their “Zen garden” because it seems to distress them both. Emma immediately took to pouring into the cones. We typically don’t “wet” the sand but if it had been moist it would have stuck together better and made rounded top cones. It didn’t seem to bother Emma in the least though because once her cone was full she’d pour it out and start over again.
Ethan loves to fill pails scoop after scoop and then dump. The shovel is a nice quality that didn’t bend under the weight of the sand as he pushed it deep into the sand. The pail was a nice size and gave him plenty of space to fill.
The shaker is easy to fill and place the cap on. The kids loved shaking the sand out through the holes and pretend it was cinnamon to top their ice cream with. The entire set was fabulous. I love that the set came with two of everything… except the shaker. The only thing I would love to see if another shaker… then this would be the perfect set for two!
