Summer is one of my all time favorite seasons of the year… except for the bugs. I can deal with pretty much all of them, but mosquitos are the worst by far. Not only are their bites a nuisance with the red itchy bumps they leave behind, but mosquitos carry diseases like Arboviral Encephilitides, Dengue Fever, Malaria, West Nile Virus and Yellow Fever. It’s no wonder I am constantly searching for a natural alternative to deet for my children.

I think I may have found an alternative for my back porch, though.

The lantern arrives fully assembled. All you have to do to make it functional is lift the lid and insert the naturals mixture. Basically no assembly required. You can place the lantern on a table or use the hanger (included with screws to mount it).

Once you have the mist installed you can turn it on with the remote. The remote is super simple to use…

Even the non-readers in your house can set the lantern for the appropriate level of mosquitos at that particular moment. We have used the back porch a few times now, mostly for the kids to play, and did not have a single mosquito bother us. By looking at the lantern, you wouldn’t know that it is a bug repellant… with the added bonus of a glowing light for an authentic look.     I learned the model numbers relate to the square footage that a device is effectively rated for. The lantern is at 300 sg ft which is good for a picnic table and the chairs around it. One of the larger devices would be more appropriate for most patios.
