Late November I accepted a shopping challenge from American Express. Part of my shopping challenge is to spend 40,000 Membership Rewards Points on the perfect gift for five of my loved ones.
American Express developed the Membership Rewards program 20 years ago. This innovative program was the first of its kind that has blossomed through new partners, categories and features. You can now choose from more than a million rewards from over 500 brands! They have everything from movie tickets to trips to gift cards and even stays at the world’s finest resorts.
Membership Rewards points are earned through everyday purchases like gas, groceries, and phone bills. You don’t need a large amount of points before you can start redeeming them, either. They have small items like gift cards and movie tickets clear up to the big ticket items. There is a huge world of possibilities!
With my budget of 40,000 points I decided to cash in for 8 – $25 American Express gift cards. I have been watching sales closely and I think this will be my best best for stretching my money the furthest.
Once they arrive I will be on a spending (saving) frenzy. I did go ahead and shop Small Business Saturday while I am waiting for the gift cards to arrive. We went on a little scavenger hunt at the local antique mall for the perfect gift for someone special on my list. I found this… and it’s perfect for her. Money spent… $18.
