Wireless battery powered Weather Minder

There have been many times when getting dressed or dressing the kids when we have wondered what it was like outside. Temperature is an important factor, but when considering a jog… it’s nice to know what the humidity is as well. If you can cut the humidity with a knife (which happens often in Missouri)… an afternoon run might be slightly miserable.

83589eWhen Plow & Hearth agreed to a review we had a very good idea what we needed. We chose to review the wireless battery powered Weather Minder. It displays indoor and outdoor temperatures (C° or F°), indoor and outdoor humidity, min/max records, weather icons, weather tendency indicator, atomic time in 12/24-hr. format, calendar/display options, and it has easy-use screen/function keys.

We set up the one remote sensor outside on our back porch (make sure you put it in a place that does not get direct sun… you will get super high incorrect readings), placed the 2AA batteries in the base unit and remote sensor and turned everything on.

It took a while to get the hang of reading the icons. They include sun, sun with cloud, and cloud with rain. What confused me was, if it shows rain… it doesn’t really mean it is going to rain. It means the weather is going to take a turn for the worse. I generally just look at the comfort indicator… happy face or unhappy face. That is pretty self explanatory.

We love having the weather minder set on the kitchen counter. We probably look at it at least once, maybe twice a day to check on what we should wear or if an afternoon run would be uncomfortable. It has a small footprint and blends in nicely into the décor. It’s difficult to remember how we got along without a weather minder in the past.
