I’ve mentioned before on the blog that vitamins play a big role in my everyday life. I take a multi, a sublingual B complex, calcium citrate and a baby asprin (because of a clotting disorder) on a daily basis. My children take chewable multi-vitamins every morning (and if I forget they ask). I haven’t really thought to expand their vitamin regimen until I was offered Emergen-C kidz.
Our samples of Emergen-C (in fruit punch, orange and grape) came at a fantastic time. Joshua and I had been suffering with a head cold for a few days and I was worried that Emma and Ethan would come down with it also. As most of you know, sick preschoolers are miserable to live with.
I mixed up a glass for each of them and added some ice chips. Initially they both thought it was Kool-Aid, but since it was a little sweeter than our sugar-free variety… Ethan began asking questions. You know the ones.. “Mommy, what is this?”. I explained in simple terms that it is kind of like “vitamin water” and they were okay with that.
Emergen-C contains 250 mg of Vitamin C (that’s 417% of the recommended daily value), zinc, quercetin, and other antioxidants for immune system support (who doesn’t want that for your kids, especially in the fall/winter?). It also contains essential minerals and electrolytes to help active kids stay healthy. Lastly, it contains B vitamins. B vitamins play a key role in metabolism and energy.
I am happy to report that Emma and Ethan didn’t come down with our cold. My husband, on the other hand, was not as lucky (maybe he should have taken some Emergen-C?). The kids enjoy the taste and look at is as a treat with their lunch. They giggle and wiggle in their seats when I agree (I told you they ask) to make them a cup.
